JUNIORS RUGBY
2011/2012 Welcome Message
Junior’s Chairman – Gary Cunningham
Welcome to Grasshoppers Juniors and Girls Section

New players will always receive a warm welcome from the Junior Section at Grasshoppers RFC. Just come along for a couple of free sessions to see if you enjoy training & playing. We also welcome the support from the players' families, which is an integral part in the development of any good youth section.
Our main objectives include ensuring the players learn and develop new skills both on and off the field of play, build self-confidence, establish strong robust team principles and most importantly enjoy training and playing the game. The club operates within the RFU/Sport England Welfare of Young People in Rugby Union. This covers the safety of all young people under the age of 18. All coaches, managers, volunteers and administrators within the Junior Section are CRB cleared. All coaches qualify at a minimum of level 1 and level 2 as well as having refereeing experience. As part of our commitment to our young players free physiotherapy is offered at the club on Sunday mornings.
We field teams in the Herts/Middx Youth Leagues at Under 13, Under 14, Under 15, Under 16 and Under 17 as well as Girls teams for Under 15 and Under 13. In addition we have a very successful girls TAG rugby team who are the current holder of the prestigious RFUW St. George?s Day trophy. Within the last three seasons numerous players who have come through our junior ranks have gone on to represent the Senior Club at 1st XV level.
We are entering our ninth season as a junior section and looking to build on our 6 league titles and 14 promotions achieved to date. The junior sides train at the club grounds every Wednesday evening (Thursdays for Under 17) and train/play on Sunday mornings from September to April and enjoy a full and comprehensive fixture list.
