11.04.10 - Grasshoppers 27 Teddington 10

In a fitting finale to 2009-10, Grasshoppers put on a scintillating display to beat old rivals Teddington by 5 tries to 2. A full squad of practically 20 boys was in attendance and the first half saw us play by far the best rugby of the season.

Grasshoppers' boys fell just short against old rivals Staines earlier today. As always when these two sides meet, the battle was lively and hard fought with no quarter given by either team.

Grasshoppers' allergic reaction to the Garden Cities of Hertfordshire continued on Sunday. Following our difficult trip to Letchworth last season, we were again on the wrong end of 40 points against a solid and well organised Welwyn side, in our final league fixture of the 09-10 campaign.

13 West London maters made the ultimate sacrifice and released their beloved offspring on Mothering Sunday for our annual encounter with Bracknell. Well done too to those adoring sons who were prepared to spend this precious moment of the year away from their mothers' loving embrace.

Grasshoppers emerged from a long period of hibernation to face a big blue sky; a warm, welcome sun and the joint League leaders Hemel Hempstead. After such a long weather related lay-off, it was most encouraging to see a practically full squad of youths, rounded up in a way that would have had sheepdog trial enthusiasts everywhere doffing their caps in admiration.

Despite a number of good individual contributions, Grasshoppers boys found themselves up against a strong BoE unit and as the final score shows, the home side ended up recording a comprehensive victory.

After a number of match free Sundays it was back to business for the lads this week. Although the squad turnout was minimal and the play looked a little rusty during the opening spells, in the end a comfortable victory was secured. more

Our already depleted squad found itself further reduced for our trip South of the River to the badlands of Morden. Matters could have been worse had we not persuaded Carl to join us for a debut outing and if Marion had not succeeded in raising Jack from his deep, Sunday morning slumber. more
