Match Report - Sunday 11th November
Last Sunday gave U 11's the chance to train and play against teams they were not familiar with (Well, they are now!). This was a very useful training exercise - for players and coaches - againts well drilled sides, King's and Petersfield. They lost the first match against King's 7 - 26, even score the second against King's and lost against Petersfield 10 - 20 (it was decided not to go for conversions in this match). Although it is great to win, this training session was more about getting ALL players to bond & participate, to find players the position most suited to their natural ability,to assess what other teams are doing, to gain from other coaching methods, not forgetting to enjoy the sport.
The Man of the Match goes to Niall Pringle, who has suddenly decided to show us all his hidden - until now - ability for rugby and played like a demon. Well done.
We had a good turn up (20 players)
Match Report - Grasshoppers B festival Sunday 4th November
The U 11's team had a great time competing against well drilled visiting teams on Sunday, 4th Nov. 2007. They did not come away with a trophy this time, as they were knocked out of the competition in the semi finals by Farnham - 1 try to Farnham, nil to Grasshoppers - a very dignified & unlucky loss. Not a bad thing, since they can also learn from it and use it as an incentive to try harder. Not wanting to loose sight of what the Festival was about, the team and their families thouroghly enjoyed the event and the great facilities & hospitality of our Club. Aiming for the trophy next time!!! If Dylan gets his way, we may have a whole display cabinet to fill.
Match Report - Bank of England Sunday 21st October
Grasshoppers 14 Bank of England 14
U 11's were just a bit sluggish to begin with at Bank of England, but soon found their form and came back to even the score to 14 all, with 2 tries, one by Connor Fuli and one by a new comer to rugby, Michael McMenamin plus 2 conversions by James Gill and Owen Brooks.
The Team was getting better by the minute. We just run out of time!
17 players turned up to play/train out of 22 regulars.
Ealing Festival – Match report & Results
Hoppers V BoE 3 - nil
Hoppers V Ealing 3 - 1
Hoppers V Ruislip 1 - nil
Hoppers V Harpenden 4 - nil
U11’s U11's did us proud. They played with passion and won all 4 matches. Try scorers: Cameron, Filip, Connor and Owen but the result is a credit to them all, the TEAM. There were also many individual outstanding efforts. Some of the players who couldn’t be selected due to number restriction, turned up to support their team and enjoy the victory. Well done!
Match Report for Sunday 30th September
Finchley 7 Grasshoppers 4
11's had a very useful session on Sunday at Fichley. We had 20 players and a new comer who seems determined to join us. They played well. The final score was 7 - 4 to Finchley but at one point the score was 2 - 4 to Hoppers which proves they could have won. All the players, inc new recruits had a chance to play and loved it.
New Season Training
We've had very successful and enjoyable training sessions this season so far. Most of our players from last season are now back and itching to go!.
We are looking forward to playing Finchley next week to assess our performance in competition, establish playing position, and identify strengths and weaknesses and so on. What a lot of fun!
We welcome 6 potential new
players:
Michael, Tyron, Louis W, Jon-Luca, Philippe and Anujan.
We really hope that they will join the club. They have all demonstrated great enthusiasm during training and they would be an asset to our team.
